Happy New Year

To the Danes - Joel, Mary and the cat -
May you all have a very good  New Year, and let me wish you:
Lots of luck and good health for Mary,
Lots of professional successes and personal satisfaction for my dear brother,
Lots of sardines and human affection for Giacometti.
I'm going to ask at work if they allow me to download Skype to my computer. It seems a good idea to take another step towards the technological distance breakers, don't you think? But the computer belongs to CET - so I have to ask.
Yesterday evening Haran and Kaya came for dinner. Who says time is irreversible? It was like being together 25 years ago... Maybe some time, with the advance of tecnology, we will be able to have dinner together through the computer?
Yours, M.

Cats n' dogs

Last night it was raining cats n' dogs. Giacometti is a cat, therefor he was out in the rain all night. He woke
me up twice at 2.00 and 5.00 p.m. and the second time he was soaking wet. He rubbed himself against my shins so as to share some of his moistness with me.  I had to dry clean him with a towel. Later, he was snoozing on the carpet like a dog, on his back with his belly towards the bedazzled spectator. He's still there, in fact. This could well turn out to be Giacometti's signature posture that will go down the ages all the way to coveted posterity.

Happy birthday to Giacometti

Dear Giacometti is celebrating two years of age today.
He started the day loosing his collar somewhere around the precincts, without however disclosing exactly where somewhere is...He continued with a bite of black caviar, mind you not the Beluga kind but something a bit more popular that you can buy in any and every Føtex in this great country. After that, he felt like proof reading a manuscript I was preparing for a presentation. He left an indelible mark on it with his sweet little paw. The negative of things is sometimes quite positive...We wish him many happy returns from outdoorsiness and may he leave his stamp on human society and the beast community in years to come.

Good-bye to Ulla

We've had the pleasure of having Ulla for a shorter visit. It was touching to see Giacometti and Ulla in the process of getting to know one another. After some days of insecure detente, we witnessed a gradual rapprochement and finally the formation of durable affectionate bonds between the old woman and the beast. The romance of the month on the premises! Giacometti wishes Ulla a good flight home on Friday from his own passenger seat in the kitchen were I left him fastened to a dream this morning.

Growth

Giacometti is growing, maybe not so much so in real life, on these pages however, he's expanding real fast, acquiring more and more "body", attaining more and more weight,. a mere kitten at the outset a few weeks ago and look at him now, already a mature tiger in search of prey. Pay him his due of respect and you steer clear and clean out of trouble. Especially if you happen to be a mouse...

Cause for concern

Giacometti has been giving his people some cause for concern lately. He vanished without a trace from the premises four days in a row, short of any note of absence. The neighbours call him Kim so they were worried about Kim and searching for the missing Kim in the ditches along the main road, where many a cat has had a terminal rendezvous with destiny. I was looking for Giacometti in the washing room and other traditional cat traps. In the end he came back on his own accord one late Sunday night. The question is: who exactly came back, was it Kim or Giacometti? Only Bertrand Russell knows.

This morning he came in wet, wet, wet, from the rain. He's no water phobic like so many other cats are. Maybe he's not a cat at all?

Shabat

Dear fellow Gicometti friends,
No dramatic rescue to report on,
No digital pictures to post,
But maybe you'd be interested in learning
About Julius's nightly adventures?
I would too,
But, Alas, I have no clue
As to his whereabouts.
I only know that each day
He gets more dirty,
His eyes full of secret sparks.

The sturdy birdy

I've had the unfortunate experience of discovering a tiny bird in Joel's shoe today. Giacometti was terrorizing the shoe in the porch, making a terrible racket, thus attracting my attention. Retrieving the bird, I noticed its leg appeared to be folded into its body...And assuming the worst, I wrapped the bird in one of Joel's teacloths and had a plan to take it to the vet for emergency treatment. On the way out from the hospital's residential area the bird flew out the teacloth and sat on a wall, his leg miraculously recovered! Such a sudden cure has oftentimes befallen people prior to their dentist appointments... On the other hand, animals and people alike are known to play dead or wounded when in duress, so maybe this birdy was but dissimulating its leg injury from the outset and only waiting for a proper opportunity to assert its perfect health. Either way, we are here treading the murky waters of psychosomatic medicine, one of the trickiest fields of ignorance, ruled as it is by an endless array of conjectures and refutations, in want of a solid and secure knowledge base.

All the while Giacometti continues hunting (and haunting) the grounds of the psychiatric hospital....

A small improvement

The site is more English speaking now than ever before, hope it will make things comfier and easier for all. If you'd rather write in another language why, just do it, as long as you know the alphabet. If you'd like to donate something valuable like you soul, you can call Saul. Have a mice weekend.

Sheri

Hi guys
Shani has just sent us a lovely pic of Sheri, her beloved dog. Shani claims no words are needed to accost the image, as it speaks volumes already. I'd like to argue about this. It seems to me, there is much to be said about Sheri. I, for one, really like her, she's such a sweetheart, and much more relaxed nowadays than when she was young and hormonal. I hope she's doing well in the heat of the summer. Give her a big kiss from me.

The huggers

Here is the latest: I have been seeing very little of Giacometti this weekend; I was away playing pool in Aalborg with Steve during the day, while Giacometti was doing his stuff (hunting for mice) during the night. Result: No cuddle at all for him and zero for me too. What a waste of an otherwise nice weekend! This morning we had a very emotional reunion like people finally getting together after years behind the iron curtain of spacial severance. Ken what I mean? You could have lit up a forest blaze with the kinetic energy of our hugs.

Giacometti's activity log

You're probably dying to know how Giacometti's doing. He's had quite a strenuous week - seeking and hiding and away on clandestine missions and walkabouts in the whereabouts. But last night at 22.00 hours, I whistled to call him in and in he caved, rushing straight to his food bowl and loosing control over some fatty mackerel that was placed on top of his dry food. Afterwards, he was licking his lips for a good wee while... Shortly thereafter, he went out again. He was back in the morning though and so we did the morning gym together on the mat. I wish you could have seen how cute he was...
