This morning

This morning started pretty cool, not more than 4 minus degrees outside. Everything was laced with a thin milky layer of ice. The daybreak had barely begun, the darkness giving reluctantly in, just starting to disperse. The streets were almost completely deserted. A young woman came out the local store pushing a stand on wheels, in preparation for opening time, an hour later. A middle aged man in a shabby blue pilot jacket and a black Eminem hood to his head passed slowly by, taking in the cool air and wondering how the cats manage to keep themselves warm in this arctic weather. After all, they had come from Africa in their time, where they started out as small lions in the bush, before taking over ancient Egypt by instituting cat worship and it's correlate; human serfdom...

  2. That would be great of course, but depending on your point of view, there is a big surplus of cats or a shortness of suitable accommodations. It's tough to be reminded of the fact, even big remarkable wonderful nature has a lot of shortcomings, human nature not to mention. There are serious flaws in the design, people!
